Question Start button does not respond

Does anyone else have this problem ?

This has only happened to me a couple of times so far but it gets a little annoying ....... My start button stops responding , when I click on it my start menu does not come up , the only way for me to get it to work again is to reboot the machine .

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit w/ 6 gigs ram , so I do not think being low on ram is the problem ...... any suggestions ?

Hmm ... something is making your taskbar (= explorer.exe) freeze at times ...

In any case you dont need to reboot. Bring up task manager. Kill explorer.exe process. Then File > New > Run > explorer.exe.

Do a complete scan using malawarebytes, and check your processes with winpatrol to see what is running. That might show up something.

You might take a look at the event viewer for clues if you haven't already.

Start > Run > eventvwr.msc then look under Windows Logs. Generally the Application and System logs are the most pertinent.

Use FixWin and Fix for Explorer.exe won't start at boot in Windows. on Windows Explorer
As seti suggested. some malware may cause the problem, therefore it seems some malware is hooking with explorer.exe
