Default "Import Pictures and Videos" doesn't end :(

After I've imported images via USB from my camera, "Import Pictures and Videos" just sits there and doesn't end. I have to run the task manager and end the task. Does anyone know why?

    Thanks.

Nope, it does this every time, on different pictures. Also it doesn't matter if I connect the phone via a USB lead or plug the memory card into the card reader. And, it does it when importing pictures off my mobile phone

That's the problem, it doesn't, it just sits there doing this:

    w w w.use.com/media/2009/1220/349713/p_001.jpg
    (I can't post URLs )

even though it's finished importing the pictures. Clicking "Cancel" does nothing and I have to kill it with Task Manager.

    Thanks for any help.

    try these steps:

(A). Change settings for importing pictures:
You can change the settings Windows uses when importing pictures and videos from cameras, portable devices, scanners, or data CDs or DVDs. These import settings determine how pictures and videos are named and organized when you import them to your computer
    1. Do one of the following:
    a. Connect a camera to your computer by using the camera's USB cable, and then turn on the camera.
    b. Connect a portable device that contains pictures or videos to your computer by using the device's USB cable, and then turn on the device.
    c. Insert a removable flash memory card, such as a Secure Digital (SD) or CompactFlash memory card into a memory card reader.
    d. Connect a scanner to your computer by using a USB cable, and then turn on the scanner.
    e. Insert a data CD or DVD that contains pictures or videos into your CD/DVD drive.

    2. In the AutoPlay dialog box that appears, click Import pictures and videos using Windows.
    3. To change the settings that are used when importing pictures and videos, click Import settings in the Import Pictures and Videos dialog box.
    4. Change one or more settings in the Import Settings dialog box, and then click OK.
    5. Click OK to restart Import Pictures and Videos. Type a tag in the Tag these pictures (optional) box, and then click Import to import your pictures and videos using the new settings.
Please check this link for more information.
    “Change settings for importing pictures”

    Change settings for importing pictures

(B). I would also suggest you to disable security software and check if it closes

    @nitinagarwal1988

Thanks for the suggestions. I've just tried both of those but the problem remains

The only thing I can add is that when I kill the Import Pictures task with Task Manager, as well as killing the task, the Taskbar also restarts.

one more thing which i can suggest you to unplug your TV tuner card, than uninstall all the drivers......plug it again and check for drivers through Windows Updates....do not install the drivers from the CD come with it......

check, after this it may starts working!!

or give the spec of your TV tuner card here, I may find the right drivers for it....
