I'm looking at moving to Windows 7 from XP. On XP, I've manually moved all my data files (My Documents, Favorites, Firefox profile, etc) to my D: drive so that my data persists regardless of which system partition image I load.

Yeah, a bit more work, but it keeps my system images small and easy to manage.

What I'm wondering about is how to set this up during Windows 7 installation. I already understand that Windows 7 groups "data folders" so you don't My Documents functioning as one big catch-all directory. So I know I have to do some reading to make sure I fully understand the logics Windows 7 employs.

Any pointers toward the right direction on placing data on non-system partition?
