    Default Windows 7 Shutdown Problem

My computer will not shutdown. It was fine one day and not the next. I enabled verbose status and it's hanging at Shutting down Group Policy Client Service. I'm using Win 7 Professional. I had not changed any settings on my computer before this. Any thoughts on how to fix this would be appreciated.

    A couple questions:

    1. Have you tried disabling verbose?
    2. Did you use the regedit method or a third party switch?
    3. If you used regedit are you sure you did it right?

Have you got BitLocker enabled by any chance? If so please see Download details: Update for Windows 7 (KB975496)

Please also see if something at Windows 7 or Vista will not shutdown helps you.

    roraniel,

It was hanging before I enabled verbose status. I only did it to see where Windows was hanging. I did it through gpedit.

    HappyAndyK,

No. BitLocker is not enabled. That was one of the first things I checked as I had just seen the MS update for that.
