Question Windows 7 autorun for software CDs stopped working

Autorun just stopped working in Win 7 home premium on Toshiba laptop. Have checked autoplay in control panel, and registry entries for cdrom, NoDriveTypeAutoRun and NoDriveAutoRun. Values are all good, but software CDs do not start automatically. Any other thoughts??

    Thanks

    1. Click Start, and then click Run.
    2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
    3. Locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\servic es\cdrom
    4. In the right side pane, point to a DWORD Value called AutoRun. Delete this DWORD Value.
    5. Exit Registry Editor.
    6. Restart the system for the new settings to take effect.

Thank you for the added try, deleted the AutoRun entry (which was set to value = 01h), then rebooted, but machine still will not autorun software CDs (tried several different CDs).

This is strange since settings appear OK unless some other type of corruption in Registry (have Norton I.S. and MaxSecure to do live monitoring to keep out the bad stuff) ??

    Thanks,
    Mark

is it same case with Audio/Video CDs also?

As R.K suggested if there is no problem with AutoRun Option than you may go with few following task to check:

@ make sure you are using a updated version of drives for CD driver
@ CD ROM driver is compatible with windows 7
@ and you have not installed earlier version of Roxio easy CD creator (as it also causes problem with autorun ) if so than Uninstall it.
