Don't know how to post the results, whs, can't make a screenprint of it. Everything seems to be ok, no faults are
detected, all writers are stable. The only provider is Microsoft Software Shadow Copy provider 1.0
(version 1.0.0.7).
The hotfix didn't do the trick, the restore points are still disappearing. It's beginning to look as if I'll have
to re-install Windows completely, though I'm still hoping someone will come up with a solution.
No need to post the results - from what you say it's OK. If all writers are stable and the provider is Microsoft, then you are fine.
Sometimes the provider gets grabbed by other imaging programs (e.g. Symantec Ghost) and then it does not work. Also if a writer is corrupted.
The restore points have always been very volatile. There are many circumstances under which they can disappear. You are a lot safer if you make images because those you control yourself. But don't use the Windows imaging (that's another pain) - use free Macrium. It is faster, easier to use and a LOT more reliable. I have made a tutorial that should tell you how to use it.
