Windows Live Photo Gallery is very slow to open

I have been using Windows Live Photo Gallery is very slow to open for years to edit my photos but have noticed that it has been getting slower and slower............. I used to use the Microsoft Fixit tool which helped but that has been stopped.

I have downloaded FixWin and I recently had a problem with the Windows Media Player and it has an option to rebuild the database and it worked!! My question is, is there anything similar out there to help rebuild the WLG database?

I am not a technophobe but I am not en expert either.

Clear its cache and see. To do this, open File Explorer, type %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Photo Gallery in the address bar and hit Enter.

Delete any existing instance of "OLD_Pictures.pd4" and "OLD_Pictures.pd5."

Next, rename "Pictures.pd4" or "Pictures.pd5 to "OLD_Pictures.pd4" and "OLD_Pictures.pd5" respectively.

Restart your computer and see.
