Default Can't empty Recycle Bin; Empty Recycle Bin does not work

The recycle bin works as it should except for one thing. When opening the recycle bin and selecting 'Empty the recycle bin' it doesn't, the button shows it has been pressed, but any file in the bin are not deleted. If I right click and select 'Delete' it works or in properties if 'Remove files immediately' is selected it works as it should. I only have a 'C' partition

I've tried the following with no success:

    Started in Safe Mode.
    used rd /s /q C:\$Recycle.Bin
    used sfc /scannow
    Scanned with Windows Defender
Tried various Windows fix it utilities.

I don't know what to try next, does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks

You seem to have tried to reset the Recycle Bin and it has not helped.

Use FixWin to fix the Recycle Bin registry setting.

Perhaps you could see if repairing Windows 7 helps.

Thanks Pankaj, That's one I've not tried before. I gave it a go this morning, but again it didn't help.

If you can't empty Recycle Bin after the first solution, perhaps Recycle Bin is corrupted and you can try to reset it to return to normal. ... Step 2: Type rd /s /q C:\$Recycle. bin in the CMD window and press Enter. After restarting your PC, you can reuse it.
