As was mentioned on the WVC homepage on 13th Oct, Windows Vista Service Pack 2 is on its way already. It now finds mention on Microsoft Website! Its just a placeholder and doesn't tell you anything actually .... just that it may be on its way ... !

This second Service Pack for Vista will be released before Windows 7.

"This Microsoft Knowledge Base article will be updated with more information about Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 (SP2) and Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2) when the information becomes available. Currently, the product release notes and related information about Windows Server 2008 SP2 and Windows Vista SP2 are not available."

From what is know, apart from bug fixes, Microsoft will include the following in Vista SP2:

-Windows Search 4 for improved search performance and relevance

-Backwards compatibility with Terminal Services licensing keys

-Better manageability features with DFS/FRS console, and Storage Resource Manager

-Print Server & Spooler performance improvements for printers in Windows Vista

-Additional Application Compatibility updates and fixes addressing the top support call issues as reported by Microsoft and Computer Manufacturers

-Support for emerging Hardware trends (primarily Bluetooth Wireless, latest BT 2.1 fixes, and support for new VIA 64-bit CPU)

-Improved error reporting in DFSR to help identify incorrectly configured deployments which lead to failed replication
