Talking Google’s strategy to take over the world?

    Understanding Google’s Strategy.

This slideshare presentation by French consulting firm faberNovel dissects Google’s business model, analyzes strength and weakness in each of the markets they are involved with and brings clarity to how some services are loss leaders and how monetization happens from it’s connected product suite.

    It talks of :

Why wont Google be affected by the economic crisis ?
    Why is Google buying satellites?
    Why does Microsoft fear Google?
    Why did Google acquire DoubleClick?
Is PageRank a really competitive advantage?

Do take time to look at the page rank formula.

    SOURCE.

Is this Google’s strategy to take over the world?

In simple terms if this was to be believed, PR can be increased if you have less outbound links, only then the ratio will be good.

Got to edit all posts with too many outbound links.

^ No that also apparently is not true. Your outbound links dont reduce your PR, but it reduces the power of the "link juice" that you can pass. In short, the 'link juice' is divided among the various links on that page.

But if its the ratio of inbound/outbound, that would mean lesser the outbound better the ratio and so better the PR? Doesn't it? Damn this SEO & PR thing is quite confusing.

PR is only ONE of the 200+ parameters which Google considers in Search Engine Rankings. But since it appears to be the only visible sign of 'prestige' webmasters are hooked up on PR !

No one exactly can say the formula used by Google to determine pagerank of any page.. because Google changes their strategy time to time. But most of SEO expert think that dofollow backlinks from high pagerank pages play a vital role in pagerank.

Forget all the mumbo-jumbo. Simple reason is, it sounds cool considering it is Google "ranking" your website.
