    Cool Discuss : CleanDesktop Utility

Unlike in Windows XP, Windows 7 or Vista, does not include a Desktop Cleanup Wizard, which kept track of your usage of the icons on your desktop and offered to remove the unused icons every 60 days.

CleanDestop is a small portable OPEN SOURCE freeware app which will help you clean up your unused desktop icons, in Windows 7 & Vista. You can download the source here.

CleanDesktop Utility has been developed by Omkarnath and is being released through The Windows Club.

It surprised to learn that 7 didn't have this. I don't like many things on my desktop and have always kept it neat. So this will be a great tool for all tidy minded people.

    Default good tool

be careful of these desktop cleaning tools though as even important files that haven't been touched for some time on the desktop tend to be deleted..
have experience this on winxp with its default tool

^ Yes you have a point, but here too they are moved to a folder 'Unused Icons'; unless ofcourse you choose to delete them actually

This utility scans for shortcuts only and not files/folders....
