    Yes, the misunderstanding is that msxml4.dll is *NOT* being updated
    properly. Therefore KB936181 is continually reoffered.

    The issue is not in the detection of the update rather, it's the failure
    of KB936181 to install properly thus replacing msxml4.dll with the
    "secure" version, 4.20.9848.0 .

    So in this situation, hiding the update is not advised. One needs to
    confirm that the update has installed *properly* by checking the Version
    number and not rely on the entry in ARP.

    To solve this problem ... you need to install these updates when shutting down ... or may be go to microsoft tech net's website and go to their forums... worse case scenario is to reformat you PC

    If you ain't got your solution...TRY THIS !

    • Stop Windows Update service for a while using services.msc, look for Windows Update and stop it (Don't change startup type).
    • Explore C:\Windows and rename SoftwareDistribution or delete it
    • Restart your PC and check for Windows Update again.
