Going thru the postings I noticed that there is a complete lack of Rootkit defenses. I recommend you put Rootalyser ( Downloads ) into your arsenal. It's from the same people as Spybot.

Because its not that good. At this point until ESS and KIS improve their firewalls its best to install an AV program and firewall as seperate programs.

W@elp, google goored is back, I'll head down to geekstogo and see if they can help me. Destroying infections seems to be their forte.
Anyway, I defiantly need to get a firewall, I mean malwarebytes isn't even picking up on this latest google goored.

After much discussion in the "Am I Safe" thread this is the setup I am running.

    * Kaspersky Antivirus 2009 (quick scan every day and full scan once a week and the full array of protection turned on),
    * Comodo Firewall (Free without antivirus option installed),
    * Malewarbytes set to run automatically once a week (Free),
    * Windows Defender set to run once a day (Free),
    * CCleaner set to run automatically every 12 hours (Free),
    * PerfectDisk set to run when screen saver is active and once a week,
    * Acronis True Image set to do incremental backup nightly.

I am thinking about buying the Malewarebytes auto update upgrade unless anyone can tell me how to force it to update using task scheduler.

    Default Not soo good.

Microsoft is not in the security. Their Windows Defender doesn't have the "very good" protection. They don't update much often. For a vista user or a xp user windows defender often is integrated in your windows update. What if it the spyware in the update hits you before your computer automatically update it's database? AVG would be the best free anti-spyware because it updates MORE often than the windows anti-spyware/defender. AVG is also a company concentrated on researching on spyware unlike microsoft. Alongside with AVG the best protection for free is Threatfire. It has the maximum security than any other antivirus out there. It's my personal experience. It is based on a behavioral analysis which is way better than updates since you are waithing for the updates to be analyzed and to be updated.
