    while I agree that one can have too many security programes one I wonder just how many you need. I just have the one Avg internet security and every thing else I've tried hasn't found anything so I believe that my Avg is doing a good job. As for getting up dates for other programes I go to the programe and check for updates from its home site that way I know where they're coming from and that I can trust them. Sure it takes time, but better safe than sorry

    I have read on this and several other forums that running more than one Spyware program is a good practice because no one program has ALL the latest database updates any any given time.

    Here is my security regiment:

    * Kaspersky Antivirus 2009, quick scan every day and full scan once a week
    * Vista Firewall
    * Malewarbytes set to update and run automatically daily (Paid / auto update)
    * Windows Defender set to run once a day (Free)
    * CCleaner set to run automatically daily (Free)
    * PerfectDisk set to run when screen saver is active and once a week
    * Acronis True Image set to do incremental backup nightly

    I also use Secunia Personal Software Inspector

    ^Your security regiment is good.In my opinion, you should have gone for Kaspersky Internet Security 2009,the best internet security till date.
    Though running two spyware programs might be safe,I don't recommend the same for Firewalls and antivius programs as they conflict each other.

    I have plenty of memory 2G and a big hd (180G) so space is not a worry. I also do all my backups to a 500G networked external drive.

    I thought about that and now regret not doing it. Do you know if they would let me upgrade from AV to Int Security for just the difference in price?
