Thumbs up Webroot removes, then adds back ASK Toolbar or Ask Search in its installer

Looks like Webroot will no longer offer ASK Toolbar or Ask Search on its installer !

Webroot no longer offer ASK Toolbar or Ask Search on its installer - Donna's SecurityFlash

Wonder what prompted Webroot to drop the toolbar. Was it the bad publicity ... or was it that the earnings were not good enough to warrant its inclusion! But it is nevertheless a step in the right direction and we can only hope that others too follow suit ... some day or the other.

Why is Ask so successful in tying up with so many reputed software publishers too for pushing its toolbar? Are they offering great money? How much ... any idea? It must be a good amount since many are eagerly pushing Ask toolbar installs through their software.

Aw ... the compulsions to add it back may have been too much to resist

PS : The Forum was hacked as you all know and we lost 7 days of data ... so some members may have to re-register.

What makes it difficult to understand is that Webroot is already getting a license fee of $29.95 USD for that software when other vendors can provide an anti-malware solution without the pay-per-install IAC/Ask Toolbar.

thanks for that, but how many people will come to a forum like this to get the information. In fairness if you untick the box it is not installed which is good, but it shouldn't be there in the first place
