    In April I have posted a Article on ” Remove Another Rogue Anti-Spyware WinPC Defender - Without Software“, this time I am posting another article on another Rogue Anti-Spyware i.e Virus Shield 2009. “Virus Shield 2009″ also works same as “WinPC Defender”, it basically generates misleading pop-up windows and fake error messages attempting to scare the user and hopping that he will purchase a license of “Virus Shield 2009″.

    So, if you suffers from this Anti-Spyware, then here is a tutorial how to remove this program completely from your PC.

    Follow the below tutorial to kick off this Anti-Spyware “Virus Shield 2009“:

    1. Kill the Below process (by using Task manager or Task Killer Software )
    VSHIELD.exe
    ReleaseXP.exe

    2. Delete the following registry entries (By using Registry Editor)
    a) HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Uninstall\Virus Shield
    b) HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\VSHIELD.DocHostUIHandler
    c) HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\ Run “Virus Shield 2009? VShield.DocHostUIHandler

    3. Search and delete the following files
    ==> Virus Shield 2009.lnk
    ==> Virus Shield 2009
    ==> ChkDisk.dll
    ==> ReleaseXP.exe

    NOTE:
    Use on your own risk, I will not be responsible when you delete a wrong registry entry as a simple mistake on regisrty entry may lead to fatal error on your system.

    In order to be infected by this type of rogue you should be infected by a Vundo Trojan first.
    Also many infected files have a random name

    You should unregister infected DLL too.
    The best way to remove this kind of malware is using specific removal tools like MalwareBytes' AntiMalware, SUPERAntiSpyware, SmitFraudFix, Combofix etc

    As it seems you like to test Rogue, I shall be grateful to you if you explain how to avoid this type of malware, thank you in advance
