Default How to make outpost firewall (free) work in w7 !

    hi !

    how to do it:
run the *INSTALLATION* in compatibility-mode for Vista SP1.

iīm running it now, looks OK so far, no errormessages yet...

iīve tested it with Gibsons "Security test", and "Leaktest", and it passed.

thanks for this info, but i think W7s firewall works well and there is no requirement to use a third party firewall....

well this is exactly what my friend did
Did you test it with other leaking tools in order to compare OutPost 2009 free with Windows 7 built in firewall?
And, above all, do you know if leaktest by Steve Gibson is able to bypass Windows 7 built in firewall?

    Thanks in advance

    hi !

leofelix: "well this is exactly what my friend did"

    REALLY ?

thatīs not what you said when i asked about EXACTLY what he did...

    you said: "run the application..."

yes, i have been running tests for the last couple of hours, i have tested it with Comodos "Leaktests",
and after making some small adjustments itīs now almost "waterproof".

    http://download.comodo.com/securitytests/All_tests.zip

now i have 2 leak-problems left to fix.

oh yes, Gibsons "Leaktest" bypasses W7īs firewall !

i KNOW that Outbound rules can be set, but without rules...

that was one VERY good reason for me to try Outpost.

btw. Vistaīs firewall did NOT perform well with Comodos "Leaktests" !

240 points out of 340, lots of leaks...

but we can talk about that in another thread, i think there already is a thread about firewalls.

lets keep this on the topic: "Outpost firewall in W7".

Thanks, and what about Windows 7 built in firewall as I asked?

    hi !

    sorry !

    typing error, iīm tired now...

of course i meant "W7īs firewall".

my question was: "i just wanted to know if you meant to run the installation or start the program (exe-file) in "compatibility mode" ."

you wrote: "run it in Vista compatibility mode"

so then of course, i thought you were talking about running (starting) the program AFTER it has been installed.

no hard feelings, but you got me confused...

    no problems at all hackerman1
    It can happen.
I was just wondering how was possible that Marcin (one of the developers of MalwareBytes' AntiMalware) perfectly understood me when I tested his wonderful software more than one year ago, for example.
Or Corrine, our moderator, told me I do not have to sorry for my english some months ago here.
HappyAndyK understands me and if I make some mistakes, silently and in a very polite way correct them.
And the most of the english speaking people understand what I say even though I haven't been practicing english for many years (20 years at least).

Well, errare humanum est, autem perseverare diabolicum

Sorry for OT, and congratulations for testing OutPost Agnitum 2009 free in Windows 7

P.S Sorry for my Latin too

    hi !

A small missunderstanding doesnīt matter, thatīs not important.

Outpost firewall works, that IS important...

btw. i also tested Comodos own (free) firewall with their "Leaktest-package", and it had more leaks, (4 or 5) cantīt remember now,
    iīm tired...

    it got 300 (290 ?) out of 340 points.

so Outpost seems to do a good job.

if i remember correctly, i also tested Vistaīs firewall and it also leaked just as W7īs firewall.

if i have time tomorrow i will double-check with Vistaīs firewall and also search for more "Leaktest-software" on the web.
