    Default Mystery User Account

Hi guys n' gals, I have just noticed I have a mysterious Account Unknown (S-1-5-21-2443548968-1113) suddenly appear in security settings of all folders, 1st thought is that I have been compromised but I have just ran a multitude of tests and I seem to be clean. Has anyone else had an Account Unknown recently appear and should I be concerned?

    Thanks.

    Windows RC1 Build 7100 64 bit.

    Hi, marcEmarc.

What you found is a SID (Security Identifier). As described in Well-known security identifiers in Windows operating systems:

A security identifier (SID) is a unique value of variable length that is used to identify a security principal or security group in Windows operating systems. Well-known SIDs are a group of SIDs that identify generic users or generic groups. Their values remain constant across all operating systems.
You won't find that specific SID in the list of common SIDs because the S-1-5-21- SIDS are not unique. Most likely it is a result of assigning permission(s) to folder(s).
