    Unhappy Windows Security Center Alert!!

After using Outpost FW Pro for 1 month lately I got "Windows Security Alert" saying your firewall is OFF!??
That's very strange because my Outpost firewall is enabled (I think..lol), and before I installed one, I turned off Windows FW. Never before, so far after 1 month of using, I have this alert (red shield with white X mark)??!!!
It appears that suddenly 'Security Center' doesn't recognize Outpost

Please help, where to look, what to do???
    Confused

    Thx much in advance!

    Sorry I forgot:
    it's VAIO laptop XP, SP3

Tried this - told me that "This action cannot be completed because the file is open Application Experience" Told me to "Close this file and try again".

    Try this:

Click Start > Type CMD in search > Hit enter.

From the results, rt-click Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'.

    Type the following command:

    winmgmt /verifyrepository

If you get a message "WMI repository is not consistent" , run the following command:

    winmgmt /salvagerepository

This will perform a consistency check on the WMI repository and resolve the issue.

    Restart your machine.

If you still get the alert or get the following message instead:

    winmgmt /salvagerepository is failed.

Ignore this message, and again run "winmgmt /salvagerepository"

    Hope it helps ...

Got the following: WMI repository is consistent

I tried deleting the repository folder in safe mode and was able to do so. However, the problem was still present and I found that a lot of my Win 7 customizations and settings had gone away. Used System Restore to recover them.

Thanks for your suggestion - let's see if Ramesh has any ideas.

Default Windows Security Center will not start

When I start Win 7 RTM Professional, the Windows 7 Action Center says that the Windows Security Center is turned off. Clicking on Turn on Now does not cause anything to happen. I went into Services and tried to start the service - shows as automatic but not started. Got a message box stating "Windows could not start the Security Center on Local Computer." followed by "Error 5: Access is denied".

Clicking on the OK button does nothing.

Pls see if these help you:

FIX: Windows Security Center service does not start

"Error 5: Access is Denied" Error Message When Trying to Start a Service

Best to create a system restore point first, before making any changes to your system.
