Such lists are giving really disparate results! Here we have AVG on top and NOD32 in the 30th place.

seems to me that it depends what you want to believe is correct. I am happy with KIS and until someone proves conclusively that it is poor then I shall stick with it. I think this is true of any antivirus and the truth is that they are all probably equally as good.

When I first tried MSE, I gave it a whirl against Avast Free and AVG free. I have to confess that it immediately picked up on two malware items missed by the others. I agree though. If they tried the same test next week, with new viruses floating around, they would probably get totally different results. -Meaningless. Go with what you like and trust.

    Interesting,
SRI international seems to be trusted
SRI International - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

but I read on the top of that webpage

    1. All antivirus binary analysis results are provided via VirusTotal - Free Online Virus and Malware Scan.

Well, virustotal cannot known what happen when a file is executed. I mean, there are many rogue - for instance - which are not detected by common antivirus, they seems clean files but once installed cause damage

Its time to MSE, freeware, light and secure.

MSE w%d better solution for those, who don't want to spend $$ on security solutions for home and small business (On stand alone PCs).

Although I am pleased to see MSE near the top of the list, I question what versions of other vendor software they are using in the tests. For example, Ewido, long ago purchased and incorporated into AVG, was never an anti-virus software but rather an anti-malware software. In addition, ESET is way past v2, and now at v4.

MSE may top the charts, but I personally am not satisfied with MSE.. Compared to other free product, Avast, it fails to catch even common viruses. But having too much expectation from the vanilla MSE is also wrong.. So I had to switch to Kaspersky 2010
