Exclamation a-squared Free outperforms Malwarebytes in detection and removal!

Donna Buenaventura, a security software expert and MVP, wrote a comparative review on BrightHub.com:

Whis is the Best? A-squared Free Vs Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

I always take note of what Donna says. I did like her conclusion that since they are both free get them both, and why not.

    hi !

    thanks Andy.

i´ve been waiting for some "tests" on A2.

update: now that i have read Donna´s review, i feel very safe.

    i´m using: MSE, Avira-free, A2-full, MBAM-free, Comodo´s FW & D+, a HOSTS-file, UAC...

I've read yesterday this excellent review, I follow Donna MVP as well as Corrine MVP.

I have only to say that a-squared includes Ikarus antivirus too, that's why catched more malware samples than MBAM, in my humble opinion

However both MBAM and a-squared are two great pieces of software, no doubt

That's expected. Considering the nos of signatures ( 3 m+ ) & hybrid scanning engine ( IK AV integration + native AS engine ).

Additional to that I like a2 free AM because it can run portable on any external drives. Just copy the whole a2 free program files folder and then transferred it to your USB flash drive, and it works fine.

Two things caught my eye in this thread relative to never running two anti-virus programs at the same time.

@hackerman1, you said you are using MSE & Avira-free. Aren’t they both anti-virus programs?

@leofelix, you said A2 included Ikarus antivirus. Does that mean it cannot be run along with another anti-virus program?

    Please enlighten me!

    hi !

    roraniel: yes they are.

i read somewhere that they could be used together.
Avira is perhaps a bit unnecessary now, when i installed MSE i decided to keep Avira because MSE was a beta.
they seem to work well together, Avira was not on the list of noncompatible A/V´s that should not be used with MSE, so i had Avira running when i installed MSE, and it didn´t say anything about it.

i´m glad i kept Avira, since MSE has showed some bugs, fx. it turned itself off and then would not turn on again...
MSE is out of beta now, seems to be working ok, but i´m still running Avira, i haven´t finally decided to turn it off.
and the work fine together, i have not noticed any problems / conflicts.

    i´m using: MSE, Avira-free, A2-full, MBAM-free, Comodo´s FW & D+, a HOSTS-file, UAC...
perhaps i can turn off Avira ?

@hackerman1, I have been using MSE for about 2 months with no issues.

My current setup is MSE, Windows 7 Firewall, UAC, Malwarebytes Paid Version, and WinPatrol 2010 Plus.

It depends on what antivirus you use I think.
Running Kaspersky + a-squared antimalware is not a good idea, 'cause both have a very powerful HIPS

MSE or Avira or NOD32 can play well along side a-squared antimalware with no conflict.

    Hope it helps

I believe that a-squared is not for none tech user. Once I installed a-squared in my cousin computer. It detected cookies. My cousin thought it was threat. I have to uninstall it.
