Default a-squared uses 620kB memory for realtime protection !

    hi !

which Antivirus & Antimalware uses the smallest amount of memory for the realtime protection ?

running taskmanager as admin i looked at a-squared (a2), it uses 620kB....
    i only find 2 processes, that seems to belong to a-squared: a2guard.exe & a2service.exe.

am i missing something or doesn´t a-squared use more memory ?
that must be the lowest usage, or does anyone know another A/V & A/M that uses less ?

a-squared (a2) really is light on resources, not sure about 620kB being the norm but it's a top quality product and full kudos goes to the designers and coders.

I have recently been testing Vipre AV & AM and that also uses very little resources and is lightening fast.

a.squared is not light in memory usage.

I use Avira and MalwareBytes' Antimalware full, both very very light

    hi !

i AM running taskmanager as admin & showing ALL processes....

i never thought of checking it before, it was a thread on sevenforums about avast 5-beta being the A/V that used less memory that gave me the idea to check how much Avira & a2 really uses.

    hi !

azziz07: yes some programs including a2 can use a lot of CPU resources,
but please, lets keep this thread on the subject !

realtime / background protection, NOT scanning....

    leofelix: "...not light..."
well, what do you call 620kB ?

These days KIS 2010 did a pretty good job in resources consuming:
    avp.exe (system) 15,604k
    avp.exe (Admin) 5,200k
klwtblfs exe. (Admin) 4,040k (the URL's check & only appear when online)
