Default WinPatrol 19.3 Issues and Solutions

In my rounds at various forums as well as what I ran into with this update, it appears that most of the problems incurred with WinPatrol v19.3 are a result of the previous version not completely uninstalling. (My apology for the link to my blog post. There are a lot of images and multiple sites where people were having issues.)

See WinPatrol 19.3 Issues and Solutions.

Thank you for the community support, but starting with this Winpatrol 19.x I can't apply my italian language anymore. The interface remains just in english and I'm pretty tired to manage old language setups and .reg files.

I'd like a better "integrated" multilanguage support, with the possibility to store my language settings in a configuration file.

    Hi, Max.

WinPatrol is a one-man operation. Thus, as the sole developer, support, marketing, etc., Bill relies on volunteers to provide the translations. As noted at BillP Studios Download Page, the most recent Italian setup is 19.0.2010.

The most recent Italian setup crashes with a mysterious error:

Also the regedit way to translate WinPatrol doesn't work. I tried to apply winpatrolitalian and winpatrolfrench .reg files without any change to the interface.

I'll update you about when it will be possible. I sent an email support.

Thanks for the Heads Up Corinne. I'd dropped back to v19.1 due to problems (1st time ever with faithful Scotty), I was gutted.
At least now I know why things weren't "quite right".
    (Scuttles off to install 19.3).

@Max, I'm sure Bill will do the best he can to sort things out.

@Elmer, I know just what you mean. I dread the day when one of the large security vendors comes along and offers Bill enough for WinPatrol for him to agree to the sale and retire.

I'm having some problems to contact him. In 8 days I sent 2 emails, without getting no reply into the email support indicated here.

Also with latest 19.3.2010.2 version the multilanguage support seems to be broken.

Can you help me to spread this topic, or to contact Bill about my e-mail request?

I still don't trust so much blog and twitter services, because personally I find that channels enough impersonal to expose a problem.

    Thank you.

Hi, Max. Bill's main support computer for WinPatrol is down. He is in the process of doing a restore from Windows Home Server. As you can imagine, he has a LOT of data so the process takes quite a while. Since Bill and I are friends, I will pass along a link to this thread. Your patience is appreciated as I expect verifying everything in the restore as well as catchup will take him some time.

Hi, Max. Bill told me that the Italian file has been corrected and available at http://www.winpatrol.com/support/winpatrolitaliano.reg

    He also said,
As you probably know, IE is required to execute the file. All the other browsers will just display the text to protect people.

Executing the .reg file with IE the translation is applied correctly.

However I still have some questions for you.

    1) Why IE is required to do this? Exists a technical reason about?
    2) I prepared a better updated italian translation, and I'm asking you if it's possible to replace the incorrect translation still present on winpatrol server.
You can download the new version as visitor here (retry if necessary)

I consider it a sort of collaboration to maintain this program between my countrymen, in an official way.

    Thank you.
