I upgraded mine to v2 today.

For users if you are using v1 and wanting to upgrade to v2 go to the following url: https://connect.microsoft.com/securi...?wa=wsignin1.0 (you will need a Live Sign-In ID).

v2 is not yet available through MSE Homepage. It still list the download as v1.0.2498.0

@hackerman1 is right... Microsoft aint released v2 for public yet and v1 can't be upgraded to v2.
Early adopters or Testers can download v2 Ongoing Beta from Microsoft Connect and those are currently using v2 Beta, a Client Update Package will be offered via Windows Update for MSE v2.

    why ?

of course it must be safer to download DIRECTLY from Microsoft.

i was tired when i posted & not fully awake because i had not had my "beatysleep", so i forgot to doublecheck before i posted....
i later edited my post, but the topic of the thread still says "released" even though i have tried to change it to "updated".
weird forum-software, since even not a mod can change it....

anyway, the latest version works very well, no problems detected so far.

iīve been using MSE v2-beta since it was released, together with Emsisoft AntiMalware (EAM), and i have not noticed any real problems, itīs working very well being a beta.
    i remember the first v1-beta...

the only thing is that sometimes i get "application not responding" from fx. Firefox & Outlook.
and it IS caused by MSE, itīs not a conflict between MSE & EAM, because it happens even with EAM turned off completely,
and it doesnīt happen when i use only EAM and turn off MSEīs realtime-protection.

the last week iīve been experimenting with the settings in MSE, trying to find the cause of the problem,
so now it will be very interesting to see if the problem remains after the upgrade.

after having used the upgraded version for almost 2 days (in about 5 hours) i have not seen the "application not responding" anymore,
except for just a second a few times yesterday.
so it looks like the new version works a lot better.

I am addicted to the FileHippo and I think its pretty cool site and also safe and secure for downloading apps. Offical source is better I know, but I have had no problems downloading from FileHippo.

    AHSO,

I agree with hackerman1. It is always best to download programs from the vendor site, particularly when it comes to security software.
