Default Tip: Create Special ALT Characters

    To obtain an ALT Character:

    1. Make certain that the Num Lock key has been pressed to activate the numeric key section of the keyboard.
    2. Depress the Alt key.
    3. While the Alt key is depressed, type the proper sequence of numbers (on the numeric keypad) of the ALT code from the table above.
    4. Release the Alt key, and the character will appear.

I had printed out a chart similar to this years ago and I keep it under my keyboard. Of course, it's of no use when I have my laptop, so I keep an image file of the chart in my pictures folder.

I had done a post on Char Map sometime back and that's one thing I like about the OS X, the keyboard supports alternate special characters without having to go into something like Char Map. Thanks for the list

First you have to activate the Number Lock. Usually that means typing the SHIFT and NumLk keys at the same type.
