Post Schedule individual imaging scenarios from different partitions

I had made a basic little tutorial about the usage of free Macrium for imaging. Then the question came up on how to schedule different images from different disks/partitions to separate imaging targets. So I have expanded the basic instructions with that.

You find the tutorial for download here: ( Macrium.zip - Windows Live )

    There are 3 files:
    1. the tutorial as PP 2007 presentation
    2. same as PDF in case you do not have PP 2007 or the PP Viewer
    3. a wordpad page with the link to the free Macrium - because if you Google "Macrium", you get directed to the paid version.

I have chosen this format so that I can easily add to it in case new questions come up.

Macrium is my favorite disk imaging software. Thanks for the link.

    Very nice tutorial whs !
You may have convinced me to use Macrium.
I suppose it applies to both the free and the paid version?
    Thanks for sharing.

I assume it applies to the paid version too - but I have never used that one. With the paid version you get differentials (which I never use because if you lose one of the differentials, you lose the whole chain) and it also manages your output space according to your size specifications. That I don't like either because it eventually erases the first image that was taken right after installation - and that one I always like to keep.
So there is really no reason to pay money. All you get is a more complicated setup and lost control. It takes only a few minutes now and then to manage your own stuff.
Aditionally, I alternate between 2 physical disks to where I write the images - just an aditional safety measure.

Whs,so what you're saying is that the free edition only allows restoring an image to an exact same size partition?

No, that was not what I was trying to say (not sure how you read this into my post). But most likely you need a partition of equal size or bigger (not 100% sure though). If you want to squeeze an image into a smaller partition, you have to go with "cloning" - e.g the COPY function in Norton Ghost. Free Macrium cannot do that.
