Default Safe surfing with Sandboxie - very, very easy

Many people think that sandboxing is difficult to use. It is, in fact, very, very simple. Here is what you do to be safe on the web, which I think is the most important. The other functions you can explore yourself.

Step1 - Download and install Sandboxie from here: Sandboxie - Download Sandboxie

Step2 - Go into All Programs, click on Sandboxie and make a shortcut on the desktop from “Run webbrowser sandboxed” (you can also pin it to the Start menu, Quick launch or Taskbar).

Step3 - Launch your webbrowser with that shortcut. Now you are safe.

Update: Read Sandboxie and Sandboxing explained.

Since it is so dead simple, I could not resist to recommend it. Especially for most of us who are all over the web all day long, it is an excellent tool. No need to stress your antivirus setup.

    hi !

thanks whs, however it wasnīt really that easy, mostly because i have very tight security on my PC.

iīm running Comodoīs Defence+, which reacted to Sandboxie, and when i finally got Sandboxie running, i selected "Run Browser" and it started the wrong browser.
i installed Firefox 3.6 RC1 yesterday, but the default is FF 3.5.7.

anyway, itīs obviously working, since iīm running FF sandboxed now....
i always thought that running boxed would require a lot of RAM, but looking at taskmanager it uses only 2248 KB,
at least i canīt see any other new processes running.

There's a thread entitled "Sandboxie Configuration Recommendations" at wilderssecurity with a good bit of info that will get you started with further Sandboxie customization.

Sorry about the link info, but I was informed I'm not yet allowed to post urls <shrug>
