Question Fix: Task Scheduler Failed To Start in Windows 7

For some reasons, my task scheduler never loads automatically. I checked under services where it is set to run automatically and the service properties say it is active and running. When I open the task scheduler, it says {0} task failed to start. When I try to open history, it says the copy is corrupt. Is there any way I can fix it without having to re-install Windows 7?

There is nothing usable on the Internet. I can install third party software for the purpose but that would be an additional overhead.

    Update: See this.

Have you tried running System File Checker?

Perhaps something here at Technet can help you.

Done that. Wont help. When I try to create a new task and go for advanced options, says MMC failed/crashed.

Well, I got the fix for this.

Open Windows/System32/tasks and cut paste all the tasks to some other folder.

Now that the tasks folder is empty, launch Task Scheduler and Import Task from the folder where you pasted them

You can now go ahead and create own tasks.

    Worked for me.
