    Default Desktop Folders

We're having a weird issue with Vista Home Premium and a user profile's
desktop folder. If I go into Vista's partition, go to users, then go to one
particular person's folder, and finally go to the desktop folder, there are
probably 15 or 20 desktop folders I have to open before I actually get to
the desktop folder that contains all of the files & folders on the desktop.
What is causing this odd behavior?

I found this answer to this issue.

Note that the first part of location is abbreviated.

I was cautious and created a new folder (desttopNew) with my desktop
stuff. Then I changed the registry. Going into admin mode, I renamed
desktop to desttopOld and then desktopNew to desktop. Then I re-edited
the registry. Finally, as clean up, I deleted the old folder.

I rebooted after each registry change just to be prudent.

    Now, will this stay fixed?

    Hello Nerd,

In addition to DrKral's post, this tutorial below may be able to help
you. Check to make sure that the default location for the Documents
folder in Option Two is set as "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop" (no quotes) in
    the registry.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn
