    Let me get this streight...
Microsoft removed the search option from Vista because it competes with
    Google's desktop search?
But Windows has always had a search function, way before Google even started
    up!
I tried Google's desktop search once, and I hated it.
Surely Microsoft should at least give us the option to download and
re-install their original search function, instead of having to resort to
    that nasty Google search?
We, the consumers should have the right to choose!

What do you mean by "RC1"? If you mean SP1, then the search has NOT been
    removed. It's still there....

There still is a search function, but it has been integrated in Windows
    Explorer.

Yes MS was constrained to allow Google desktop search also, in view of objections by Google, which were upheld. But you can continue to use MS search, I dont see the problem.

If instead of RC1 you mean SP1, the How To Get back your Search in Vista SP1 will help you.

Idiot - RC1 means Release Candidate 1. Just FYI
