    Default Windows Update Failed

    From yesterdays 10 updates, below 5 failed to update successfully.



    I tried manually download and update from windows update website but same error that i have to enable service Office Source engine. I have never had problems in the past with updates and have not changed anything on my computer. Here are the updates that I was trying to download.

    Security Update for Microsoft Office Word 2007 (KB956358)
    Security Update for Microsoft Office Excel 2007 (KB958437)
    Security Update for the 2007 Microsoft Office System (KB956828)
    Security Update for the 2007 Microsoft Office System (KB958439)
    Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 Junk Email Filter (KB958619)

    Any help would be appreciated.

    The Office Source Engine service basically saves installation files for updates. By default it is set to run as : Manual. Type 'services' in Vista's start menu search bar and hit enter to open the Services console. Scroll down to Office Source Engine and check its status. How is it set at? Click on Start the service and see if you are able to start this service.

    Else set it on Automatic, reboot and try again.

    Windows Vista Updates Fail To Install may also help you.

    I setup it Automatic delay and reboot machine but same problem and i tried manually download file and install it but same error for this service

    Pls try the steps enumerated in the link provided by me above and see if it helps. Then pls revert.

    i tried that link and followed but still same problem with automatic update and if i manually download file from MS and tried to install....

    @ Ramesh Kumar No im using Vista Ultmate SP1 and this is the first time i have had problem like this .....

    See all Windows Updates have installed; its only the Office Updates which have not installed and are giving you problems.

    So maybe you could try and simply re-install/repair your Office and see if it helps ...

    repair your Office from control panel then reboot
