Post How to change Desktop background when locked..??

    Hi
I am using a Laptop provided by my office having Vista Enterprise 32 bit, but i am not able to change the wallpaper, after changing it; once i restart the Laptop it comes back to my offices' wallpaper. Think they have put some policy restriction, how can i change that and put my own wallpaper and retain the same even after restarting.
    Thx..

Pls see if Cannot change desktop wallpaper in Windows Vista helps you.

Else download and use our Ultimate Windows Tweaker to tweak your Vista.

This solution by VG should solve your problem:
    1. Open regedit and goto following keys one by one:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\ Policies
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\ Policies
    HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rentVersion\ Policies

    2. Under these keys, if you see "ActiveDesktop" key, delete it.

    3. Now Look for "System" key under "Policies" key. If you find it, then select it and look for a string value "Wallpaper" in right-side pane. If it exists, then delete it.

    4. Restart your system and you should be able to set the wallpaper.

I have the same issue on a computer I use at a clients site. Obviously I do not want to start editing the registry on thier computer but I am a creature of habit and like MY desktop.

I saved a theme to the desktop and just click it when I log in.

    Anal but effective! lol
