Default Cannot access external drive on network

I am having a networking issue. I have a Dell 640m laptop, Vista Ultimate SP2 32bit, Kaspersky AV 2009, Windows Defender, Malwarebytes, Vista Firewall.

I have my laptop and my desktop in the same work group. I cannot access my 200G Iomega external from my laptop. It is connected to my dell desktop running XP SP3, Avast Pro, Malwarebytes, Windows Defender, and Windows Firewall. I have both internal drives on my desktop mapped and accessible from my laptop. I also have the printer connected to the desktop netwoked to my laptop and it works fine. I have sharing turned on for the external drive.

When I click on the external drive in the "Network" folder of my laptop or when I attempt to map it I get the following message

\\DELL-DESKTOP\Iomega on Dell Desktop is not accessible. You might
not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the
administrator of this server to find out if you have access permission.

Not enough server storage is available to process this command.

I thought I would share the solution.

This was answered on Microsoft Answers.

I had to turn off Simple Sharing on the XP Machine by going to Windows Explorer, Folder Options, View and un-checking Show Simple Sharing View.
