Best way to find out is with Process Explorer. On my AMD 4800+ it is 1 to 6% of CPU, but on my Quad it is nothing.

I have 5 gadgets running with the 'Side bar' off and they use 35,644k hope this gives you some indication of memory usage.

Yer some of us have to suffer in 8 deg C and have to wait for the Sunday Roast to be done. And to think I could be in Egypt where it is just 22 deg C at the moment

By the way the simple answer to your question is try turning them on and off and see the results
