Check if latest version of Flash is installed and enabled. Also see if you have ad/flash blockers blocking them.

Hi Tony are you trying to do them in Firefox or IE, because somethings do not work in firefox but do in IE. Can I suggest that you try in IE

    1) Clear your Browser cache. Use CCleaner.

    2) Clear your Java Cache.

Start Menu > Control Panel > Java > General > Temporary Internet Files > Settings Click on Delete Files > OK.

    Hope it helps.

Hi Tony just a thought as you've tried IE7 try firefox. If that doesn't work either try doing a check disk with automatic repair that way you know that it's not a system problem. If none of these things work come back here because I am sure that someone else will have the solution

Can you give us a link to a sample website? I don't have SunJava installed on this machine so it would be interesting to see what I get.
