Default Suggestions to Replace System Restore

Years ago I used Go Back instead of System Restore. What programs are better than System Restore today? I am running Vista Home Premium, 64 Bit.

I use a imaging backup utility Acronis True Image instead of system restore. It does include a "try it" feature where you can install software or updates in a controlled environment that can be easily undone.

I recommend Acronis True Image (Paid), Norton Ghost (Again, Paid), or Macrium Reflect Free version.

You may want to read this (Ghosting approaches - summary because of popular demand How-To Geek Forums ) where I have summarized the options. Some of the comments are also interesting. I use Norton Ghost and system restore. System restore can be very useful for recovering lost files - see this for detail (http://www.winvistaclub.com/forum/wi...-explorer.html ).

I have never used another programme, but from what people tell me Norton Ghost seems to the best

Pathfinder, have you entered the contest for a copy of ShadowProtect? It is a fantastic disk imaging program. See the post here:

I've been a long time user of TrueImage.

    Hi, Pathfinder.

Regardless of the imaging/backup route you elect, I still recommend creating a restore point before installing a new software or program version update. Sometimes, that is all that is needed if an upgrade goes wrong. I have also used it when a new software wasn't what I was expecting and did not cleanly uninstall. A quick system restore can solve that type of issue.

Nice to see you here d p.

I rely primarily on System Restores for frequent restores, otherwise I clone my disk using Acronis once in a month.

You should try to win the Storagecraft's ShadowProtect softie being offered here as a giveaway.

    Otherwise see http://www.winvistaclub.com/d75.html
