    Default Strange desktop problem

    Hey!

    I have kind of an odd issue at the moment with my desktop.
    I was in control panel and my PC sort of had a... spaz?
    Sorry if that's a little non politically correct but yeah.
    After said event, I have 6 icons on my desktop that I absolutely can't get rid of.
    They're Windows icons, like the My Computer, Network, Control Panel etc icons that can be assigned to the desktop, but going in to those settings doesn't help because the new ones aren't in there.
    I can't right-click delete or drag them to the Recycle Bin either.

    Here's a screengrab to show you what I'm on about;

    Thanks!

    Have you tried restarting and then seeing if you can correct the problem? This happened to me once and a quick restart seemed to do the trick then I was able to delete the unwanted short cuts. JR

    I would suggest you try a system restore to a prior point first. If that doesnt help then lets see ...

    Restarted, nothing. System restore doesn't go that far back (happened a while back, but kinda forgot =P)

    Thanks for the suggestions though

    Also see if this helps you.

    If that doesn't work, try deleting the (hidden) IconCache.db file under
    C:\Users\(Your Name)\AppData\Local\ and restart your computer.
    A new one will be built automatically.

    Thanks to my MVP collegues Sujit, Rajdeep, Vishal for their inputs
