Exclamation Kaspersky took 15 gb of my space!

I had a variant of Win32.Kido virus in my external hdd which KIS 2009 failed to remove. It always gave the message that the virus would be deleted after restart, but nothing happened. Anyways, when I did the scan of the external hdd using KIS, it hanged and I had to restart. To my horror, about 15 gb of my space went missing. I used the disk cleanup but to no avail. CCleaner restored about 5 gb of the space, but I know that is not among the space that went missing. So what the hell happened! I have no system restore points.

I suggest you run WinDirStat (WinDirStat - Windows Directory Statistics ). It will show you what's on your HDD.

    Hi soumya
are you sure you could remove this worm Conficker - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia first?
Please try with some removal tools before

    http://vil.nai.com/vil/conficker_sti....I.N.G.E.R.exe

    http://download.eset.com/special/EConfickerRemover.exe

And MalwareBytes' AntiMalware of course (download them from a non infected computer, please)

Hi I have KIS2009 and have no problems with it at all, so I looked at your problem at KIS and this led me to this site: Troubleshooting on removal. I know what others are suggesting will help but try this as well. I would also suggest that you try glary utilites for the recovery, also it is not generally a good idea not to have a system restore point in case of problems.
