Hi longtail,
welcome
please take a look here
Free Back Up Software For Windows : DiscWizard & DriveImage
and here
6 Freeware Acronis True Image & Norton Ghost Alternatives
if you go to tucows, they have a list of backs there which you can compare. Or you could go to majorgeeks and do the same thing.
Easeus Todo backup is also very good.![]()
agree with tweakwindows, I also use EASEUS todo backup, very good, in my opinion, the advantages:
easy to use - just several mouse click
completely free
support server and non-server machine
support raid array
provide winpe bootable disk
especially the last one, very useful.
Macrium Reflect Free is also very good to create image backup. I use it.![]()
If you are using Win 7 Professional, the built in program seems to be fine - does file backup and disk imaging. Only seems to have the ability to schedule one backup at a time, however. Can backup across a network or to an external USB drive.
Hope you got your solution to take backup....
but wanna suggest you Backup and Restore shipped with Windows Vista and Windows 7, much better solution to take backup and restore states.
RK, problem with the built-in windows facilities is that they do not work half of the time. That's why I was using Norton Ghost since about 18 months but have now switched the free Macrium which is so much easier, faster and smaller in footprint and images. http://forum.thewindowsclub.com/wind...e-macrium.html
For backups, I swear by CrashPlan. It's free (Windows, OS X, Linux and Solaris) and will automatically backup to an external hard drive, another computer on your network, a friends computer on the other side of the world or to CrashPlan's paid backup hosting solution.
