Cannot open files with .msu extension

I cannot open .msu files on my Vista 32-bit. I have tried every forum. No solution. I have tried to associate this file type with the 'Windows Update Standalone
Installer'.

Right click the .MSU file and select Open With.
Click the Browse Button.
Navigate to C:\Windows\System32.
Select the 'wusa.exe' file.
Select Open.

No luck. How do I recover the extension from my Vista SP1 Installation DVD.

Grateful for your assistance. I have FixWin Utility. The issue is: Which of the Fixes will fix the problem? That is: Is it under System Tools, Windows Explorer or Additional Fixes? Please tell me the particular Fix to apply.
